Pools

It's funny how, I am living right beside the KLCC tower, what was said to be the liveliest part of Kuala Lumpur, and yet, it feels lonely. It is truly a rare sight. I am familiar with the ghost town that is Coventry, because even without the pandemic, it is quiet and eerie. But for KL to be this quiet? Truly astonishing.

I also notice that there are so many swimming pools near this area, and yet, not a single person has used them since I came to this place, despite the fact that there is no more local cases here. I wonder how the swimming pool in the Warwick Sport centre is like. It must be so lonely for the past three months. The last time I went there was in Week 10 of Term 3. Even then, I was super cautious.

I got an email the other day from Warwick Sport,

"We look forward to welcoming you back to the Sports Hub!"

Honey, I'm already back home for good, but thanks.

I wonder what it feels like to get swimmer's high once again. I wonder how it's like to immerse into the pool, head first, and do a couple of dolphin kicks before doing the first pull, then another to the end of the lane and doing a somersault to complete the second lap. I wonder how I'd feel after a good pull exercise, or a kick board warmup, or a drill. I wonder how it feels like to clean up my foggy goggles, or when my nails would be brittle because of how harsh the chlorine is to them.

When I can finally use the pool again, you'd know for sure I'll be running to KGNS to do 100 laps. It's a promise I made to myself. The KGNS pool is 50m, twice the size of the Warwick Sports Hub, so that'll mean doing a 5km swim.

But one thing's for sure, I will never take anything for granted ever again.
