The Right to be Sad
7:50 PMIt is ingrained in the society that we need to be happy, always
To not wear our hearts upon our sleeves
To show that we're strong
But the more we internalise our emotions,
We are inevitably creating a monster,
and the world gets ugly,
and the society turns its back on us once again.
So why do we feel the need to please the society so much?
Why can't we exercise our right to be sad?
To have our moments?
To let people down?
To allow people to let us down?
but that is fine though,
because now I can finally be with my friends again,
friends who stuck by me,
through my good and bad times.
As I laugh and pour my heart out to my friends,
and them doing the same,
as I listened to their problems,
I told them,
"why be around people who drag you down,
when you can be around people who empower you?"
Sometimes I can't believe the words that come out from my mouth,
and sometimes I wish I practice what I preach,
but that is what I shall do.
I will surround myself with people who genuinely care for me,
who will stick by me,
through thick and thin.
will I lose some of them?
Maybe.
But that's okay,
because life is full of mistakes,
but life is also full of beautiful lessons,
and I shall take it as it is.
