The A-Team
3:50 AMLet me introduce you to the A-team I am in.
Person A makes sure they end work at 6pm. But you barely see them in the morning, because they will be doing a night shift. I usually deem Person A as the leader of the pack, because Person A is the one holding the fort when our manager is not around. Person A will ask you of your progress, but at the same time, trust that you will be able to understand the task well. Person A will tell you as it is, so sometimes you get scared of them. But you know, Person A only wants the best for the team. “That’s why we have a team”, Person A would emphasise, if you mess up. Person A’s love language is most probably words of affirmation, because Person A is always supporting the team, for us to keep the momentum going even when we are worn out. Person A is seriously good at their work, so much that when the boss asks questions, Person A would answer them in a flash.
Person B is one to work behind the scenes. You don’t see them talk as often, but when called for, this person will give you all the information needed to get the job done. Person B is the best person to talk to about life outside work. I admire Person B because this person keeps a healthy lifestyle. Apple for breakfast, packed roast chicken salad for lunch. Person B would see the little things that you do and support you when you’re down, and would tell you to chin up when things are rough. Person B’s love language is most likely quality time, Person B was the first to invite me to work in the office, and made me feel alive again, as I managed to talk to actual people since the past year I’ve worked in this organisation.
Person C was the first to say hi. Person C is the most dedicated, hard-working person I know. When I asked Person C about work-life balance, they would reply that they never had any. But once you know Person C, you will know that they would make time for that balance. Person C is the kind of person who drives to work probably around 5.30am, reach the office at 6.30am for the gym, then start working at 7.30am. Person C’s status is always online on Teams. Personally, I look up to Person C’s attitude the most, because of Person C, I too decided to start working at 7.30am, well, mostly because I’m bad at writing morning reports, so I learn better with the extra time. Person C’s love language is definitely acts of service. Person C is not one to give words of wisdom, but they would support you behind the scenes, and you’d have to go above and beyond to find out that they were the one who supported you. Person C is always attentive, despite how tired they say they are. Person C is always energetic, despite already working there for years.
All in all, it has been a joy to work with the A-team. As you know, people can change. But at the present moment, I am enjoying the company. So while I can, I will cherish my time working with them and infuse their fiery energy into my work too.
